Pardo Police Station gets bomb threats

CEBU, Philippines - One of the 11 police stations in Cebu City is allegedly receiving bomb threats from suspected drug pushers affected in the intensified anti-drug campaign of the government.

The threats prompted Police Regional Office-7 director Chief Superintendent Noli Taliño to place all police stations on alert status.

Taliño warned the people behind the threats that they would not succeed.

"Subokan lang nilang bombahin ating station at palagay ko hindi na sila makakalayo," Taliño said.

The regional police commander reminded his people to be always on alert considering the threats.

"Sinasabihan din natin ang mga pulis na sa ating campaign versus drugs manganganib din ang kanilang buhay," he said.

According to him, the threats have always been there since the intensified campaign against illegal drugs started. He cited the strafing incident in Danao City Police Station in August.

"Kaya on alert na sila, yung mga police stations, baka may gaganti diyan. Nangyari na yan sa Danao. So yun yung ini-expect natin sa mga drug pushers na ayaw mag-surrender at titi-gil sa kanilang activities," he said.

The Danao City Police Station was strafed by unidentified armed men following its anti-drug operation that killed Medz Alvaro, brother of suspected drug lord Alvaro "Barok" Alvaro on August 11 this year.

Despite the threats, Taliño said the police will not be cowed and would continue the fight against illegal drugs.

"Dapat mangibabaw dito ang mga batas natin. Walang ibang siga dito sa pag-implement ng batas kung di yung mga police natin hindi yung mga drug lord," he added. (FREEMAN)
