Governor to Provincial Director: No to EJK
CEBU, Philippines - "I don't condone extra judicial killings."
This was the warning issued by Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III to the new provincial police commander during the latter's courtesy visit at the Capitol.
Senior Superintendent Eric Noble assumed the other day as the new Cebu Provincial Police Office director following the relief of Senior Superintendent Jose Macanas. Davide told Noble pointblank that the campaign against illegal drugs should be "aggressive" but should not result to extra-judicial killings.
The governor said that cases of summary executions should be properly investigated. Prior to his meeting with Davide, the police official was already oriented by Ivy Durano-Meca, executive director of the Cebu Provincial Anti-drug Abuse Office (CPADAO), on the Capitol's anti-illegal drugs program.
Noble said he was impressed with the provincial government's anti-illegal drug programs and he vowed to intensify the Oplan Tokhang in the province as part of the administration's anti-criminality plan.
Noble also said that the deployment of police personnel at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center will continue.
"Walang pagbabago. So far walang changes sa deployment," he said.
Davide promised to continue supporting the police particularly in its war against drugs and criminalities. (FREEMAN)
