CEBU, Philippines - Soil erosion has affected Golden Valley Homes in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City due to heavy down pour yesterday afternoon.
Mark Daryl Gorne, resident of the said subdivision, posted a picture on Facebook showing a vehicle that fell to its side after a portion of the area where it was parked caved in amid the heavy rains.
Gorne told The Freeman that the homeowners association started to notice few months ago that the soil in the area near the river had loosened up due to the rain.
"Actually last month may plano nami magtabangay.. na amo untang tapakan ang na-wash out na yuta sa ilawom, wala lang siya nadayon kay siguro naay problema sa budget," Gorne said.
He said their subdivision would easily get flooded even during moderate rains.
"Yes, og sige og uwan dali kaau mobaha among lugar bisa'g hinay ang uwan," he said.
Gorne, however, was not sure if the problem was already reported by the officials of the homeowners association to their barangay officials.
No other details of the incident were available as of last night because the officials of Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council and Barangay Lahug could not be reached for comment. (FREEMAN)
