CEBU, Philippines - A man who tried to pacify his neighbors who were fighting ended up dead after falling off a bridge in Barangay Bonbon, Cebu City late Saturday night.

George Repiso, 38, fell off some 20 meters below the bridge after he was punched by Harold Imesola, 22.

Senior Police Office 2 Rommel Bancog of the Homicide Section of Cebu City Police Office said Repiso was trying to calm down Imesola and another neighbor who were fighting each other when Imesola confronted him instead and punched him to the face.

The victim wobbled after receiving the blow and fell from the bridge.

Other neighbors rescued him and brought him to Cebu City Medical Center. He was already having difficulty breathing by the time he arrived at the hospital and was soon pronounced dead.

The suspect was held by the police in custody and will be charged for homicide later today.

Meanwhile, another man died after he was run over by a van Saturday morning along F. Vestil Street in Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City, near South Road Properties.

Hiram Aboronado, 37, died at the hospital after he was ran over by the Fuso Canter Van, which was being driven by Gersua Esconde Jr.

Initial investigation revealed that Esconde was driving towards Barangay Mambaling via an access road when he hit Aboronado's motorcycle at past 10 a.m. in front of a mall at SRP.

The van pinned down the motorcycle then ran over Aboronado.

Responding paramedics rushed the victim to CCMC but the latter was pronounced dead minutes later.

In a hit-and-run incident, 56-year-old Joselito Nepumocino died after he was hit by a speeding motorcycle early Saturday morning along Governor Cuenco Avenue in Barangay Banilad, Cebu City.

The victim, a resident of Doña Rita Village in Banilad, was driving a motorcycle when he was hit by another motorcycle at around 5 a.m.

The victim was rushed to CCMC but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The police are calling on possible witnesses who could identify the driver and the plate number of the red motorcycle that hit the victim.   (FREEMAN)
