Woman, 55, caught with P250T drugs

CEBU, Philippines - At least P250,000 worth of shabu was seized by the police in a buy-bust operation from a 55-year-old woman Tuesday evening  in Barangay Labangon, Cebu City.

Senior Inspector Alvin Llamedo, chief of Punta Princesa Police Station, said they arrested Florencita Garcia, a resident of Sitio Cogon, Barangay Labangon.

Prior to the operation, he said a weeklong surveillance was conducted against Garcia after they received reports that she was engaged in the illegal drug trade.

They consider Garcia as a level 2 drug pusher operating in Barangay Labangon.

Complaints for illegal selling of dangerous drugs and illegal possession of dangerous drugs will be filed against Garcia before the Prosecutor's Office today.

Meanwhile, at least six persons were arrested by the police after they were allegedly seen sniffing shabu in a shanty inside a cemetery in Barangay Sambag, Bogo City Tuesday dawn.

Ian Christopher Lequin, 25; Vicente Arcillas, 31; Ramonito Ypil, 31; Philip Cesar Remulta, 21; Elyjan LipangLipang, 23; and Jaurebe Reyes, 21; were all arrested past 2 a.m. on Tuesday at the Corazon Cemetery.

Police Officer 2 Alexander Ancao, investigator, said intelligence operatives of Bogo Police Station were responding to a call for help after residents heard gunshots near the area.

The operatives went inside the cemetery to look for someone armed but, instead, saw the group who were allegedly sniffing shabu in a shanty.

Some of the six were caught off guard but others were quick to hide in their pockets shabu paraphernalia, small packs of shabu and empty plastic packs of shabu.

Most of them were caught with two small packs of shabu inside their pockets, said Ancao.

The six were brought to the police station while the police are continuing their investigation into who fired the gun in the area. — (FREEMAN)
