CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Governor HilarioDavide III has no plans of engaging into a debate with his opponent in the gubernatorial race, Winston Garcia of One Cebu, even if the Commission on Elections will organize a gubernatorial debate in the province.
Davide recalled that even before he was challenged by the Garcias to a debate he also refused.
Thegovernor said it is a waste of time to debate with Garcia.
“I have better things to do than engage Garcia in a debate” Davide told reporters.
However, for Garcia, Davide is just afraid that he cannot present to the people what he has done for the province.
Garcia even questioned the refusal of the governor.
“For me why should he be afraid of debating with me? Is he hiding something? Is he afraid the he be made accountable to things he done as governor? Hadlok ba sya? Naa ba syay binoang nga mahadlok sya ma-expose unya sa among debate nga di syamakatubag?” Garcia said.
Garcia added that the refusal of Davide to debate will just reinforce the perception that he has done nothing as the governor of Cebu.
Davide went on to say there is no use debating since the camp of Garcia has been attacking him in the newspapers. He said it will only be the people who will judge who will be the next Cebu governor in the May elections. (FREEMAN)
