CEBU, Philippines – Two sisters were injured after they were hit by a motorcycle being driven by a 21-year-old Indian national along Gorordo Avenue, Lahug, Cebu City on Friday.
Victims Aubrey Marie Miñoza, 19 and her sister April Mae, 20, landed at the hospital after they were accidentally hit by Billa Sanjeev Reddy’s motorcycle while crossing the pedestrian.
Reddy, from Rayaparthy, Warangal, India and currently residing at Old Aderan Hotel in Salinas Drive, Lahug, was traveling home when he accidentally hit the two victims.
Senior Police Officer 1 Porferio Lim Jr. of Traffic Patrol Group said the victims were crossing the pedestrian along Gorordo Avenue at past 4 p.m. on Friday when they were hit by Reddy.
Reddy, Lim said, allegedly did not see the victims crossing because there was a car on his left side which stopped near the pedestrian and there were also no traffic lights in the area.
He allegedly did not know that the car was making way for the victims so when it stopped, he still sped off until he accidentally hit the two girls.
Reddy sustained minor scratches while the victims were also injured.
Responding Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF) personnel brought the victims to Perpetual Succour Hospital.
An amicable settlement was reached after Reddy provided medical assistance to the victims.
However, he will still be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries. — Reinhard Julius O. Buhia, USJ-R Intern/NSA (FREEMAN)
