CEBU, Philippines – A man who was repairing the ferris wheel at the Kasadya sa SRP (South Road Properties) dawn last Thursday met his untimely death when he got electrocuted when he climbed up the wheel.
Police Officer 3 Lester Dajao identified the man as Tohay Tagaylo, a resident of Barangay Calamba, Cebu City.
Dajao said he was welding parts of the ferris wheel when he decided to check the upper portion. When he climbed up, however, whatever he was must have touched exploded.
“Nikatkat ni siya sa taas sa ferris wheel kay naa siyay gi tan-aw, unya kay niboto man og kalit, didto nakita siya na nipilit... Duda sa mga tao nga grounded to ang wielding machine, ni-connect lang sa ferris wheel” Dajao said.
Tagaylo’s friend noticed that the welding machine remained plugged as Tagaylo climbed up the wheel so this had to be disconnected before Tagaylo could be rescued.
“Wala man siya matagak kay na ipit man ang iyang tiil sa edge sa ferris wheel,” Dajao added.
Tagaylo was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center but did not make it there alive. — Jan Michael T. Lumayag, USJ-R Intern/JMO (FREEMAN)
