Edu Manzano backs mass transport system for Cebu
CEBU, Philippines - Independent senatorial candidate Edu Manzano said he is supporting the establishment of a mass transport system in Cebu.
Manzano, movie actor and television host, narrated in yesterday’s press conference how he was stuck in the traffic along A.S. Fortuna Street in Mandaue City for two hours two months ago.
“Gusto ko talagang manggigil. Kasi akala mo nasa Cebu ka na, relax ka na. Cebu is an economic hub at sabi nga ng manghuhula na traffic is a sign of economic progress. But there should be a way like a masterplan on how to solve traffic. I am for mass transportation which is the way of the future,” he said
Manzano was again caught in traffic while traveling from Waterfront Hotel Cebu City Hotel and Casino to the Pedro Calungsod Shrine at the South Road Properties.
The 60-year-old actor is an adopted candidate of the tandem of Senator Grace Poe and Senator Chiz Escudero. He is also a guess candidate of Senator Miriam Santiago-Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. tandem.
Manzano, who ran for vice president in the 2010 election but lost, is batting for programs on job creation in the countryside, education, agriculture and coastal resources management.
He said managing coastal resources is important since the Philippines is an archipelago “and we have a lot of fishermen relying on fishing as their main livelihood.”
He also said education has become highly competitive in the country that it is no longer enough for a person to have a degree. But even if a person has a degree, he said there are still no jobs available. (FREEMAN)
