CEBU, Philippines - Taxi operators should be the ones to provide paper bags or “bulsita” in case their passengers throw up inside their cab, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-7 said.
“Ang drivers or operators dapat sila ang mo-provide ana just in case naa’y mosuka sulod sa ilang taxi,” said LTFRB-7 director Rey Elnar.
But transport leader Ryan Benjamin Yu, chairman of CITRASCO that owns 200 taxi units, said the passengers should be the ones to bring their own paper bags.
“Dapat ang mga pasahero ang magdala ana labi na kadtong wa maanad mosakay og aircon. Kay sila man ang nakahibalo sa ilang situwasyon,” said Yu, who also chairs Cebu Confederation of Transport Operators and Drivers Association Incorporated.
Just this week, the LTFRB-7 slapped a P6,000 fine on a taxi driver for being arrogant to his passenger when the latter’s one-year-old child threw up inside his taxi.
The driver allegedly asked for P2,000 as payment for the cleanup of his unit.
“Kanang P2,000 daku ra pud ‘na kaayo. Mga P100 ra man ang bayad anang magpalimpyo ka og taxi,” said Yu.
Elnar said anyone should avoid being arrogant and discourteous when driving a public vehicle.
Drivers should be courteous all the time and should not berate their passengers, he added. (FREEMAN)
