CEBU, Philippines - The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-7 will allow 20 buses to travel within Cebu City in the afternoon of January 17, which is also the schedule for the Sinulog Grand Parade.
LTFRB-7 director Rey Elnar said this was agreed upon in a meeting yesterday with the Cebu City Transportation Office and various transport leaders.
He said these buses will travel the Lahug-Talamban route and will collect P10 per ride.
Elnar said aside from the 20 buses, jeepneys from the north will be allowed to ply up to the Pier 3 area while jeepneys from the south will be allowed up to Compania Mari-tima near the Cebu City Hall.
“Hatagan ni nato og special permit ang mga operators but di nato pabayron kay ang LTFRB man ang nihangyo nila para sad di ma-stranded ang mga pasahero inig human gyud sa grand parade,” Elnar said.
It has been four years that LTFRB-7 has implemented this initiative of allowing provincial buses/mini-buses to enter the city proper during the Sinulog Grand Parade. This after revelers complained of being stranded due to lack of public utility vehicles. — (FREEMAN)
