With holiday season: City warns vs ‘indecent’ entertainment
CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Anti-Indecency Board is warning the public to refrain from having “indecent” forms of entertainment especially this holiday season, otherwise they will be facing fines.
City administrator Lucelle Mercado, who chairs CAIB, stressed that there is no harm in doing entertainment especially this Christmas, but people should know their limitations.
“Even if it is for entertainment purposes, we should refrain ourselves from doing indecent acts. Let us remember that they will face fines if they were proven doing indecent actions especially if na warning-an na sila daan,” she said.
Under City Ordinance 1408 or the Anti-Indecency Ordinance, those who will be caught or reported performing indecent actions may be fined P5,000.
Mercado said they will also run after those who organized the event where the person/s are caught acting maliciously.
“We are very serious about this; dili mi moundang kung dili mo masakpan. Please, giawhag nako ang mga katawhan nga kung naa mo’y nakit-an o nasakpan nga gabuhat og malicious acts, you can always report it to our office or just take a photo for justification,” she said.
So far this month, there is no related case yet filed before their office, said Mercado.
Further, the city official has also warned radio and television firms against airing programs with “malicious utterances and indecent words,” considering that with the holiday vacation, more students can listen to or watch their programs.
“Students also sleep late. We are exposed with high technologies; they can still hear kung unsa na ilang gipang-air. But of course, before ta mobadlong nila, we send them a letter to make it formal and verified,” said Mercado.
“Please don’t misunderstand if the government is running after them. We are just trying to stop all these indecent shows,” she added. (FREEMAN)
