One killed in Danao shooting
CEBU, Philippines - A man who was drinking with two of his friends in front of a store died after an unidentified perpetrator opened fire past 1 a.m. yesterday in Barangay Looc, Danao City.
The victim was identified as Pepito Amancio, 25. He was drinking with his friends, Genesis Escalante and Jason Iway, when the incident happned.
Police Officer 3 Arnold Lapini, desk officer of Danao Police Station, said that they received a call from a concerned citizen about a shooting incident.
When they arrived in Barangay Looc, Amancio’s body was already covered with blood.
Lapini said that while Amancio and his friends were drinking in front of a store, an unknown assailant on board a motorcycle arrived and opened fire, hitting the victim.
Amancio’s companions escaped unscathed.
The victim suffered three gunshot wounds to his stomach, left neck and right hand.
The assailant immediately fled away after seeing the victim fall.
Police investigators recovered four empty shells of 9mm caliber pistol and a live ammunition of 12 gauge shotgun.
Lapini said that the perpetrator might have held a grudge against the victim.
Road accident
Meanwhile, a 60-year-old buko bar vendor died after he was hit by a speeding motorcycle past 6 p.m. on Thursday in Barangay Manatad, Sibonga town.
Benosto Potestas was driving his bicycle on his way home from selling buko bar when the motorcycle suddenly hit him, causing him to fall to the ground. The motorcycle driver, who was unidentified, fled away.
Potestas suffered severe injuries in his body and was immediately rushed to the Dr. Deiparine Medical Clinic where he was declared dead on arrival. — (FREEMAN)
