Cebuana OFW seeks help over sexy photos

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Anti-Cybercrime Group-7 is looking into the complaint of a 25-year-old Cebuana whose Facebook account was allegedly hacked by her ex-boyfriend whom she met at the social networking site.

The woman’s sister told the police her sister is based in Kuwait and is worried about the possible risk to her life because of the sexy photos of her the man has been posting on her Facebook account.

She has been working there for two years and is covered by the strict rules in the Middle East.

According to the victim, the man had told her he is from Dasmariñas, Cavite and is a soldier assigned at Camp Aguinaldo in Manila. Their relationship reportedly started in November 2014 and they have swapped photos of each other but the guy reportedly never showed his face on video camera.

The sister said they only came to know that the two had split up when the noticed sexy photos of the victim being posted on her Facebook account. As it turned out, it was the guy who has been posting the photos, staying true to his word to humiliate the girl online if she would break up with him.

Senior Insp. Michael Vertudazo of the Anti-Cybercrime Group-7 said he has spoken to the woman online.

“Iya lang gusto nga mahunong na pagpost so mao na atong unahon kay basin mag-post na pud og lain… so mao na dapat natong unahon,” he said.

Vertudazo said they will coordinate with Facebook itself to have the woman’s account deactivated. They would also coordinate with Camp Aguinaldo to confirm the man’s background and identity.

Vertudazo said the man has violated the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act or Republic Act 9995: An Act Defining And Penalizing The Crime Of Photo And Video Voyeurism, Prescribing Penalties Therefor, And For Other Purposes.

He reminded the public to be cautious about trusting people they only meet online.

“So dapat dili gyud ta magsalig sa mga tawo nga nailhan nato sa internet. Dapat wise ta mag-gamit sa Internet,” Vertudazo said. — Ma. Fatima R. Secuya/JMO (FREEMAN)
