Truck boy leaps to death

Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A 29-year-old truck boy who allegedly suffered from a nervous breakdown was discovered dead after jumping from a one-story building past 6 a.m. yesterday at Sitio Awayan, Barangay Poblacion III, Carcar City.

Alvin Suaberdes, 29, of Calagasan, Argao town, was declared dead on arrival at the Carcar District Hospital minutes after he allegedly jumped from the building.

Police Officer 1 Neil Manongsong, desk officer of Carcar City Police Station, said that past 6 a.m. yesterday Suaberdes was discovered dead by his co-worker Jeff Gerald Llego, 28.

Suaberdes was lying face down on the ground and unresponsive when Llego found him so Llego called for police and medical assistance. Suaberdes was brought to the hospital by the paramedics and the police.

Investigation revealed that Suaberdes had been acting strange since the other day and kept telling others that someone wanted him dead.

Manongsong said he believes Suaberdes was suffering from a nervous breakdown. He added that they cannot determine if the suspect used drugs but said this was not the first time that they have responded to such an alarm.

He said that last month at least 28 persons asked for police assistance because they believed that they were being hunted by unidentified persons who wanted them dead.  (FREEMAN)
