CEBU, Philippines - The Provincial Capitol is open for public transactions only in the morning today to allow its employees to prepare for the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III said Provincial Administrator Mark Tolentino will issue the memorandum today.
Davide noted that the influx of passengers who will be going to their respective hometowns is expected to peak today, with some workers choosing to take early trips to their towns and provinces.
The governor said he will visit the Cebu South Bus Terminal this afternoon to check the situation there. He said he also requested the Capitol’s security office and the Cebu Provincial Police Office to field in additional personnel to augment the security force.
“Our manager sa CSBT has already come up with a plan to ensure the safety and security sa passengers diha,” Davide told reporters.
Ramon Dumayac, CSBT operations manager, earlier told The FREEMAN that they have mounted tents to serve as “contingency waiting areas” at the terminal. He said passengers will no longer be allowed to line up outside the terminal to prevent traffic obstructions and incidents of pick-pocketing.
Railings and signages were also put up to sort out passengers according to their destination. The elderly, pregnant, persons with disabilities, and those who have small children with them also have their priority lanes.
The CSBT management advised passengers to head to the terminal early to avoid being cramped inside terminal with the sea of passengers.
Passengers were also reminded to adhere to the policies implemented inside the facility, especially the first-come-first served rule.
Dumayac said their operation will be on a full swing until Sunday. (FREEMAN)
