Herrera succumbs to cardiac arrest
CEBU, Philippines - Former senator and trade union leader Ernesto “Boy” Herrera passed away Thursday at the Makati Medical Center.
Trade Union Congress of the Philippines director for education Raffy Mapalo confirmed Herrera’s death, according to GMA News Online report. Herrera, 73, reportedly succumbed to cardiac arrest.
Herrera served in the Senate from 1987 to 1998 and became the district representative of Bohol from the 8th to 10th Congress.
He was the author of Republic Act 6715, which amended the Labor Code in 1989.
He also became a member of the Agrava Fact-Finding Board that investigated the assassination of Benigno S. Aquino Jr.
He was born in Samboan, Cebu on September 11, 1942.
He earned his elementary years in Zapatera Elementary School and graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Laws at the University of the Visayas. (FREEMAN)
