3 ‘pushers’ nabbed, P1.1M drugs seized

CEBU, Philippines - Over P1 million worth of illegal drugs was confiscated in separate anti-drug operations conducted by the police resulting in the arrest of three suspected pushers, including a bigtime drug personality.

Operatives of the Cebu City Intelligence Branch arrested on Monday afternoon suspected bigtime drug pushers Kent Bryan Atienza and Jerry Delgado along Sunset Drive Extension in Barangay Lahug.

CIB chief Superintendent Romeo Santander said at least P1.1 million worth of shabu was confiscated from the suspects. CIB operatives conducted a buy-bust operation against Delgado and chanced upon Atienza inside the former’s house.

Santander said Delgado is a known drug pusher in the area who could dispose of at least 300 grams of shabu every week. He had been a subject of surveillance operation for almost one month.

On Monday, CIB operatives swooped down on Delgado after he sold a pack of shabu worth P500 to undercover policeman. Upon searching Delgado’s room, the police found Atienza and seized one large pack of shabu.

“Dako-dako gyud ni nga illegal drug personality,” said Santander, referring to Atienza.

The suspects allegedly got their drug supply from Mindanao.

Delgado and Atienza will be facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, operatives of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group also arrested yesterday morning a suspected level 2 drug pusher in Barangay Pulpogan, Consolacion.

The police seized P82,600 worth of illegal drugs from Randy Ramirez Casipong, 33,  during a buy-bust operation.

Casipong sold a medium pack of shabu to a poseur-buyer resulting in his arrest.

Senior Inspector Armado Labora said the operation was supervised by Provincial Intelligence Branch chief Superintendent Rodolfo Albotra.

The police recovered seven large packs, 23 medium packs, and three small packs of suspected shabu from the suspect.

Labora said the suspect is a “primary concern” because of the fact that he can dispose of at least 35 grams a week.

His usual customers are habal-habal drivers from Compostela and Liloan towns. The operation was a result of a three-week surveillance. — (FREEMAN)
