CEBU, Philippines - A barangay councilman was shot and injured by two unidentified men while on his way home after delivering a speech for the barangay’s fiesta, Saturday night in Barangay Anapog, San Remegio.
Victim Norian Pagal, 45, sustained a gunshot wound to right portion of his back, the bullet piercing through his rib cage, police said.
Police Officer 2 Rino Inso of San Remigio Police Station said Pagal was walking towards his house at around 11 p.m. when two unidentified men followed him.
An assailant, who was wearing a black jacket and a black cap, allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot Pagal in his back.
The victim was brought to Cebu Provincial Hospital in Bogo City and was referred to a hospital in Cebu City.
Inso said at least two investigators from the police station are now closely investigating the incident to arrest the assailants and identify their motive in shooting the victim.
Investigation showed that the gunman probably used a revolver in shooting the barangay councilman since there was neither empty shell nor slug found at the crime scene. (FREEMAN)
