CEBU, Philippines - A motorcycle driver died after he collided with a truck while running at a high speed as he negotiated a curve along the national highway in Barangay Looc, Danao City last Saturday evening.
Jube Tamis, 38, of Bakilid, Mandaue City, was declared dead on arrival at the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Danao City because of severe injuries.
Truck driver Benjie Solayao, 23, surrendered to the police after the accident. He is now under the custody of Danao City Police Station.
Police Officer 1 Joseph Aledon, traffic investigator, said that Tamis came from Carmen and was heading towards Mandaue City while truck was heading north of Cebu.
Aledon said the victim tried to overtake another vehicle when he collided with the wing van truck. Because of the impact, Tamis was dragged three meters away from the point of impact.
“Ang iyang liog nabangil sa iyang ligid nagrabihan gyud,” Aledon said.
The police are waiting for the family of the victim if they will press charges against the truck driver.
Aledon said that as of press time they are still trying to locate the family of the motorcycle driver because nobody has claimed his body from the hospital. (FREEMAN)
