1 dead, 2 hurt in SRP road accident
CEBU, Philippines - One died while two, including a girl, were injured in an accident on the bridge at the South Road Properties in Cebu City on Tuesday night.
Albert Punay, 29, was declared dead on arrival after sustaining severe injuries when he was hit by a Starex van being driven by Arnold Yap, 44.
Investigation showed that Punay was driving a motorcycle and was heading towards Cebu City past 8 p.m. on Tuesday when the van, which was on the opposite direction, crashed into the center island, reached the opposite lane, then hit his motorcycle.
Punay was badly injured while Yap, a resident of Barangay Mambaling, and his 12-year-old daughter Katherine also suffered injuries.
The victims were brought to Cebu Doctors’ Hospital where Punay was declared dead on arrival and Yap and his daughter confined.
Yap said he was heading towards Carcar City when the van allegedly lost its brakes upon reaching the SRP bridge.
He opted to hit the center island, but the vehicle jumped to the other lane and ended up hitting Punay. — (FREEMAN)
