Davide insists on keeping Monisit

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Newly-installed Department of Education Provincial Schools Division Superintendent Rhea Mar Angtud will have a problem taking over her new role after Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III expressed his desire to keep the outgoing Schools Division Superintendent Arden Monisit.

Angtud, who used to be the Cebu City Schools Division superintendent, made her customary courtesy call to Davide yesterday after DepEd Secretary Armin Luistro reportedly ordered “overstaying” officials to be reassigned.

Davide, however, told Angtud in his office that he wants Monisit to stay in his post instead of reporting to Mandaue City as the new schools division superintendent there.

The governor said he was satisfied with Monisit’s performance and he found no reason for the school official to be transferred to another place.

“As far as I know, as far as I’m concerned, wala pa man tingali mo-overstay si Dr. Monisit. Nganong ilisan man siya nga para nako maayo man og performance?” Davide said.

Because of this, Davide said he will send Luistro a letter requesting to have Monisit stay in the province.

Asked for his comment on what Davide said, Monisit told Banat News in a telephone interview that he was thankful for the governor’s trust.

Monisit, who is undergoing superintendent training in Manila, said, though, that as a good soldier, he was willing to be assigned anywhere if ordered by his superiors. – (FREEMAN)
