CEBU, Philippines - At least P750,000 worth of suspected shabu were confiscated by the police from eight alleged drug pushers in separate buy-bust operations in Cebu on Monday.
In Barangay Luray, Toledo City, police arrested alleged drug pusher Richard “Joyjoy” Dacuyan who managed to elude arrest during the buy-bust operation at 3 p.m. on Monday.
The suspect ran towards his house but policemen in pursuit were able to catch up with him and eventually arrested him inside the house.
Operatives of Toledo City police also arrested the suspect’s brothers, Junricx Dacuyan and Gilbert Dacuyan, and one Denorah Navarro, who were reportedly seen sniffing shabu inside the house.
A team from Toledo City Police Station led by deputy chief Inspector Jovito Labra conducted the buy-bust operation two weeks after placing Richard under surveillance.
A policeman who acted as the poseur-buyer supposedly bought a pack of shabu worth P200 from Richard.
When the suspect handed over the shabu pack to the buyer, the latter announced that he was a police officer and placed him under arrest.
But as soon as the police officer made the announcement, the suspect ran away towards his house. He was eventually arrested.
The police confiscated five large packs of suspected shabu worth P300,000 from Richard and another pack from the three other suspects. Drug paraphernalia were also seized from them.
Richard will be charged for drug sale and possession while the three others will face charges for possession of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia, all in violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
An hour later in another buy-bust operation in Barangay Tuburan, Danao City, another suspected drug pusher was arrested by the police and was seized with at least P450,000 shabu.
Arrested was John Rey Gonzales and three other alleged cohorts Jean Gonzales, Iven Cuenco, and Rey Paring who were around during the operation conducted by operatives of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (PAIDSOTG) and the Provincial Intelligence Branch.
John Rey was arrested as soon as he handed over a P300 worth pack of suspected shabu to a poseur-buyer.
The police further confiscated a large pack and three medium packs of suspected shabu, and drug paraphernalia from the suspect.
The suspects are now detained and will be facing illegal drug charges. — (FREEMAN)
