Habal-Habal driver shot dead

CEBU, Philippines - A habal-habal driver waiting for a passenger was shot dead by an unidentified person past 7 p.m. on Friday in Barangay Bagacay, Sibonga town.

Agustino Sejismundo, 33, of Lindogon, Sibonga was declared dead on arrival at the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Carcar City. He sustained a gunshot wound to the head.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim was sitting on his motorcycle while waiting for passengers early evening on Friday.

Suddenly, an unidentified person wearing a bonnet and a black jacket on board a motorcycle arrived.

The man allegedly stopped near the victim, pulled out a hand gun and shot him in the head and immediately sped away.

The victim fell on the ground and was immediately attended to by bystanders and other habal-habal drivers.

Police officers and a municipal ambulance also arrived and rushed the victim to the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Carcar City where he was declared dead on arrival.

A slug of a .45 caliber pistol was recovered by the police from the crime scene.

The Sibonga police have yet to identify the killer and the motive of the killing but are eyeing personal grudge. —/ATO  (FREEMAN)
