4 dead in road mishap caused by fallen tree
CEBU, Philippines - Four people were killed Wednesday evening in an accident caused by a fallen mango tree along the national highway in Barangay Fortaleza, Tuburan.
The victims were identified as Clark Anthony Enguilo, 18; Rallyboy Dacaldacal, 18; Jusver Bulat-ag, 27; and Eliezar Dacaldacal Jr., 18, from Old Bago, Asturias, Cebu.
The victims were travelling on a motorcycle past 11 p.m. on their way home from Molobolo Spring in Tuburan.
Senior Inspector William Homoc, Tuburan Police Station chief, said the victims did not see the fallen mango tree blocking the road.
He said the tree fell at 10 p.m. but nobody reported it to the police station until it has caused an accident.
“Naay punoan sa mangga natumba nag-block sa karsada, wa madiskitahi sa molupyo unta mahawanan mga alas 10 sa gabii. Kining duha ka motor naigo sa nagbabag nga mangga, dead on the spot,” Homoc said.
Another motorcycle riders believed to be companions of the victims reported the incident to the barangay captain. It was the barangay officials who reported the incident to the police station.
“Pag-agi nila sa Molobolo wa pa ang mangga, posibli nga nakainom sad ni sila, makaingon ta nga kusogkusog g’yud ang ilang dagan,” Homoc said.
Homoc, however, said that the highway has already been cleared. (FREEMAN)
