CEBU, Philippines - A man robbed a teenager of her bag and cellular phone yesterday afternoon in Barangay San Jose, Cebu City while the victim was sitting on a waiting shed.
Jonalyn Terrrano, 18, a resident of Barangay Bacayan, lost P7,000 worth of valuables to the unidentified robber.
Terrano said she was sitting with a companion at the waiting shed in Purok 1 when a man onboard a motorcycle stopped and sat beside them.
A few moments later, the man, who was armed with a gun, suddenly declared a holdup and threatened her and her companion.
In fear, Terrano handed over her bag and cellular phone to the robber, who then sped off.
The victims reported the incident to Talamban Police Station.
On the same day, a 32-year-old man was also victimized by two robbers while he was inside the Blessed Sacrament Church in Barangay Tejero.
Ronnel Caraballo, a resident of Barangay Bulacao, said he was heading to the comfort room of the church when two men approached and declared a holdup.
The suspects were later identified as Rodel Bentura alias “Bandol,” 21, and Whelben Demecillo alias “Mel-mel,” 20, both residents of Villagonzalo 2, Barangay Tejero.
One of the robbers allegedly grabbed Caraballo’s arm while the other one pointed a gun at him and told him to hand over his cellular phone, which was worth P2,700.
Responding policemen conducted a hot pursuit operation which led to the suspects’ arrest. (FREEMAN)
