Man seeks cops’ help after brother runs off with wife

CEBU, Philippines - A woman and her alleged lover, who is the older brother of her husband, were arrested by the police after they were caught living in a house in Barangay Lombo, Moalboal town Friday morning.

Police Officer 2 Romeo Legazpi Sr., desk officer of Dumanjug Police Station, said the woman’s husband went to the police station Friday dawn after he learned that his wife and his older brother eloped in Moalboal town.

Legazpi said the husband knew of the information from a habal-habal driver, who was hired by the two to transport them to Barangay Lombo.

Senior Inspector Jose Rovic Villarin, Dumanjug Police Station chief, together with the in-charge personnel of the Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk, went to the place to verify the report. They also coordinated with the Moalboal Police Station.

When the police and the husband arrived in the area, he saw his wife and his older brother inside a house owned by the woman’s relative.

Legazpi said that the husband has been suspecting that his wife and his older brother were having an affair.

“Dugay na gyud na nagduda ang bana nga naay relasyon na iyang asawa ug ang iyang maguwang,” Legazpi said.

The husband said that if the habal-habal driver did not inform him, his wife and older brother could have escaped to a more remote place.

Legazpi said the couple was married in January this year but even before they got married, the husband has suspected that his wife had an affair with his older brother.

The wife and her husband’s older brother were brought to the Dumanjug Police Station where they were detained while the police are preparing to file an adultery case against them.

“Huwat lang mi og unsay desisyon ani sa bana kay puros ra ba niya pamilya ra ang nalambigit ani,” he added.   —/ATO (FREEMAN)
