Five bid to supply Capitol’s heavy equipment

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Five suppliers were identified to bid for the Capitol’s purchase of heavy equipment in the amount of P254 million.

The five companies already paid P50,000 each as non-refundable bid fee while the opening of bid is set for September 7.

The suppliers are JVF Commercial in Manila; TKC Heavy Industries in Cebu; Civic Merchandizing Inc.-Volvo Construction Equipment in Manila; RDAK Transport Equipment in Cebu; and ConEquip Philippines in Cebu.

ConEquip is the supplier of 26 China-made buses of the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo program during the time of then governor, now Representative Gwendolyn Garcia.

Governor Hilario Davide III reportedly wants no China-made brands considering the huge amount of money the Capitol would be spending for the equipment.

However, Provincial General Services Office head, Jone Siegfred Sepe, a member of the Bids and Awards Committee, clarified that he has not heard of such order from the governor.

But Sepe said the Provincial Engineering Office has recommended that the heavy equipment must be “dependable and durable.”

The equipment includes various brands of boom truck, bulldozers, dump trucks, forklift, water tank truck, excavator, wheel loader, motor grader, road roller, lift truck and 10-wheeler self loading truck.  (FREEMAN)
