CEBU, Philippines- Three people were arrested in separate police operations Saturday yielding at least P500,000 worth of illegal drugs.
Two of the suspects were arrested during a checkpoint at Sitio Basbas, Barangay Pagsabungan, Mandaue City past 6 p.m.
The suspects were identified as Coline Alferes Adulfo, 37, and Anthony Batican, 18, all of Sitio Canumay in the same barangay.
Adulfo was flagged down by the members of the Mandaue City Police Station 3 for driving without license and for failure to bring the registration of his motorcycle.
Batican on the other hand was caught in possession of two medium packs of shabu.
Police Officer 2 Peter Martinez, desk officer of MCPO Police Station 3, said that operatives of their station led by Senior Inspector Genilo Veraque, station chief, were conducting routine checkpoint when they flagged down Adulfo.
Adulfo failed to present his driver’s license and the certificate of registration prompting them to take him in custody. Upon conducting body search, the police recovered two large packs of shabu in his possession.
His companion was also yielded with two medium packs of shabu. The police estimated the illegal drugs confiscated from both suspects to be worth at least P400,000.
In another operation, suspected drug runner Paolo Labado was also arrested in possession of at least P100,000 worth of shabu during a raid in Barangay Jaclupan, Talisay City.
Senior Police Officer 1 Edgar Causon said a team of policemen from Talisay City Police Station was dispatched on Saturday to verify the information that a group of people was sniffing drugs in a shanty.
Causon said that Labado was the only one left in the shanty when the police arrived.
The police arrested him after they found two medium and two small packs of shabu in his possession.
Labado allegedly admitted that he is a drug runner and gets his supply from Barangay Tangke, Talisay City and Barangay Duljo-Fatima in Cebu City. (FREEMAN)
