CEBU, Philippines- A 42-year-old man is facing charges before the court for allegedly inflicting physical injury and sexually abusing her minor daughter.
Assistant City Prosecutor Van Russel Inopiquez charged the father for a violation of Section 10(a) of Republic Act 7610, otherwise known as Anti-Child Abuse Law.
In an inquest proceeding, the father chose not to undergo preliminary investigation to answer the allegations filed against him. Instead, he manifested to face the charges in court.
Inopiquez then recommended P80,000 bail for accused temporary liberty.
The case stemmed from a complaint filed by a 14-year-old girl. She alleged that on August 3, 2015, at around 8 p.m., her father inflicted physical injury to her by slapping and punching her.
“My mother ordered me to take my brother to bath…but my brother desisted and screamed,” she said, causing her father to be awakened from his sleep.
The minor alleged her father slapped her in the back of his neck, got a bag and threw it to her as he started to scold her for teasing her brother.
The girl hurriedly went upstairs, but her father followed her, then allegedly boxed and choked her.
“He then pushed me towards my room and poised to punch me in the stomach. Luckily, my mother arrived and reprimanded him for it’s already too much,” the minor said.
Thereafter, the minor confessed to her mother that she was sexually abused by her father. They went to police station and reported the matter.
The statement of the minor was corroborated by her mother by executing an affidavit to support the filing of the case against the accused. (FREEMAN)
