CEBU, Philippines - Five people were arrested in separate police operations last week for possession of illegal drugs and paraphernalia.
The suspects were identified as Jeseper Suganub Capua, 38; James Kent Cinco Parantar, 19; Reynalou Cuico, 21; Giovanni Encontro Arcinal, 32; and Rolito Robledo Villejo, 33.
Capua, of East Binabag, Barangay Tayud, Consolacion, was arrested by the members of Liloan Police Station while in possession of at least P88,500 worth of shabu and a revolver.
The police responded to an armed person alarm at 2 p.m. on Friday resulting in the arrest of Capua.
The suspect is now detained at the Liloan Police Station pending the filing of the criminal complaints against him.
Parantar, on the other hand, was arrested in Barangay Binlod, Argao during a buy-bust operation Friday morning. The team led by Inspector Ramil Judilla caught Parantar selling a pack of shabu worth P300 to an undercover policeman.
Two more packs shabu worth P1,416 were seized in Parantar’s possession when frisked.
Meanwhile, Cuico, resident of Sitio Looban, Barangay Tejero, Cebu City was arrested during a raid Thursday last week. Members of the Waterfront Police Station led by their acting chief, Jose Gesto, confiscated 20 packs of shabu in Cuico’s house.
Cuico, a third year high school student at Tejero Night High School, said she was forced to sell illegal drugs to support her studies and her baby. The police estimated the drug seized for her to be worth P4,000 based on the value provided by the Dangerous Drugs Board.
She will be facing charges for violation of Section 11, Article 2 of R.A. 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
Arcinal, of Sitio Univelle, Barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City, was also arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted by the operatives from Mabolo Police Station.
He will be charged with violation of Section 5, Article 2 of R.A. 9165. In another operation, Villejo, a native of Barangay Malapay, Hilongos, Leyte, was arrested during a police checkpoint along M.J. Cuenco Avenue. He was caught in possession of drug paraphernalia. (FREEMAN)
