CEBU, Philippines - An ex-convict was found dead with multiple stab wounds in his body Friday night in Barangay Maharuhay, Medellin town.
Mario Sandoval’s body, which was covered in blood, was discovered by his daughter some 10 meters away from their house.
The daughter was reportedly on her way home when she found her father slumped beside the house of their neighbor.
Seeing her father covered in blood, the girl called for help while their neighbors called the police.
The police checked the victim and found multiple stab wounds in his body. The victim’s face was also injured, which believed to have been caused by a hard object.
The police believed that the victim was attacked by the assailant while he was on his way home.
Prior to the discovery of his body, the victim was reportedly seen at a cockfight arena drinking with his friends. The police said the victim would always get in trouble every time he gets drunk.
The victim has just served his term in prison for stabbing someone and was released last year, the police added.
Meanwhile, a father and his 17-year-old son were wounded after they were hacked by a man, Friday afternoon in Barangay Poblacion, Sibonga town.
Joel Patalinghug Sr., 48, and his son Joel Jr., were brought to the hospital due to multiple hack wounds.
Suspect Raul Redoblado, 39, fled after hacking the father and son.
Investigation showed that the victims were claiming their salaries at Liezel Teogangco’s store, where they were working as carpenters, when the suspect came and hacked Joel Sr. on his back using a scythe.
Joel Jr. tried to stop the suspect but he was also hacked in the head.
The suspect fled while the victims were brought to Deiparine Medical Clinic and were transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for further treatment.
The police believed that the suspect was seeking revenge after he was hacked by Joel Sr. last March 6. —/NSA (FREEMAN)
