CEBU, Philippines - The country’s largest labor union is set to file next week a petition to increase workers’ wages in Central Visayas before the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board-7.
ALU-TUCP spokesperson Art Barrit yesterday said the amount as to how much they will be asking will be decided upon next week.
“Definitely, the amount that we will be asking is higher than the amount that was approved by the RTWPB in Manila,” said Barrit.
RTWPB in Manila recently approved a daily increase of P15 for minimum wage earners.
Barrit said the minimum wage workers in Manila will be receiving P610 daily starting April 1 with the current wage hike.
In Central Visayas, the current minimum wage is P340 a day.
Last December 1, RTWPB-7 approved the integration of the P13 per day Cost of Living Allowance to the worker’s daily rate. (FREEMAN)
