CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office has indicted a 21-year-old man before the court for allegedly raping a 15-year-old mentally impaired girl on recently.
Prosecutor Russell Busico found probable cause against Clyde Cabacang, a resident of Sabellano Lower Yati, Barangay Quiot, Cebu City, and held him for trial. No bail was recommended for Cabacang’s supposed temporary liberty.
In her sworn statement, the victim narrated that she was passing by the suspect’s house along the road on February 11, 2015 when someone hissed at her and gestured her to come closer, to which she heeded.
She said the man later identified himself as Cabacang who led her inside the house where he removed her shorts and stripped her underwear.
The minor further narrated that she was brought to the room and was raped by Cabacang. The girl told the investigator that someone was inside the house watching television.
She admitted that she had been in the house for several times prior to the incident with some guys, whose names she did not know.
After the incident, the victim went home crying in pain. She met her 44-year-old aunt, who was actually looking for her.
The girl confided to her aunt that she was sexually molested.
The FREEMAN is withholding the names of the victim and her aunt due to the nature of the case.
According to the aunt, at about 7:15 p.m. on February 11, 2015, the girl’s mother came to her house in Sto. Niño, Barangay Quiot looking for the victim.
The girl’s aunt volunteered to look for her and went to Lower Yati, where the victim’s friends lived. In May 2014, the victim usually went to the place to watch Zumba dance held at the basketball court, the aunt added.
She said she was on her way to Lower Yati when she saw the victim crying. The girl then told her what happened.
They went to the barangay hall and reported the incident.
Already accompanied by barangay tanods, they returned to the crime scene where the victim pointed at Cabacang as the one who allegedly raped her. —NSA (FREEMAN)
