CEBU, Philippines - An octogenarian landed in the hospital after he was shot in the chest by three unidentified men who barged into his house in Barangay Loay, Toledo City Thursday night and took away the money he and his wife are lending.
Initial investigation revealed that the suspects shot Rodolfo Fajardo, 80, when he tried to defend his wife, Filomina, 78, who was allegedly pushed to the floor.
It was reportedly past 7 p.m. when the suspects barged into the couple’s house and demanded for the money. When Filomina resisted, one of the robbers pushed her to the floor. Rodulo tried to defend her but one of the suspects shot him.
The robbers took P300,000 and sped away using two motorcycles.
Loay Barangay Captain Junalyn Alicaba said the robbers have been eyeing the couple since morning on that day because they were reportedly seen cruising on board the motorcycles twice – at 7 a.m. and at past 3 p.m.
Rodolfo is being treated at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.
Alicaba said Filomina could identify one of the suspects because of a tattoo in his left leg.
