Man kills friend out of “jealousy”

Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Jealousy allegedly caused a man to shoot his friend in Barangay Bonbon, Oslob town Wednesday morning.

Segundo Espano, 40, a swine dealer, was found dead inside his house. He sustained a gunshot wound to his head and his chest.

The suspect was identified as Rosky Teleron, 32, a native of Barangay Bonbon, Aloguinsan town. Teleron then fled away after he allegedly shot the victim using a revolver.

Police Officer 1 Sherwin Cejudo, desk officer, said that a concerned citizen called the police station to inform them about the shooting incident.

Inspector Cicilio Pañares, station chief, and his men, responded to the alarm, along with Dr. Christopher Amit, the municipal doctor, who declared Espano dead.

Initial investigation revealed that the neighbors heard gunshots between 12 midnight and 1 a.m.

The police were clueless at first of the identity of the perpetrator so they went to the house adjacent to the crime scene.

Darin Figarum, live-in partner of the suspect, revealed to the police that Teleron ran away.

Teleron’s bag containing seven live ammos of .38 cal. revolver was turned over by his live-in partner to the police.

Figarum believes that Teleron was jealous because she and the victim were close friends.

“Gilain lang gyud siguro og sabot sa suspek ang ilang kasuod,” Cejudo said.

Cejudo said Figarum denied having a relationship with the victim, adding that they were just close friends.

A hot pursuit operation has been conducted by the police against the suspect. (FREEMAN)
