CEBU, Philippines- A merchandise store in Balamban town lost more than P300,000 cash to four armed robbers Sunday evening.
The store owners Emelito and Jasmin Francis had just closed their store at the town’s public market and were about to go home on board a motorcycle when the robbers arrived.
Two of the robbers pushed the motorcycle the victims were riding causing it to fall on its side. One of the robbers took Jasmin’s bag containing P314,000 and immediately fled towards the Trans-central Highway.
Senior Police Officer 2 Jose Ranielito Villarino, investigator, said that the couple was caught off guard because they fell on the ground after the robbers pushed their motorcycle.
Villarino said the husband was able to recognize one of the drivers of the motorcycles used as getaway. Villarino said they are now conducting hot pursuit operation to locate the driver.
The police believe that the robbers were the same group who robbed an agrivet store in Barangay Aliwanay and a convenience store in Barangay Santo Niño-Sta. Cruz last year. (FREEMAN)
