CEBU, Philippines- The Provincial Board led by Cebu Vice Governor Agnes Magpale will hold its session in Bogo City today, the first out-of-town session of this administration.
The last time the Board left the Capitol for a session was during the term of former governor and current third district Representative Gwen Garcia. The session was held in Boljoon town.
Quoting lawyer Pulchra Marie Acevedo, secretary of the Board, Provincial Information Officer Ethel Natera explained that the out-of-town session is “a way of bringing the provincial government closer to the constituents.”
The house rules of the legislative body also provide that there should be a district session at least once every quarter.
The agenda for this afternoon’s session include the proposed resolution authorizing Hilario P. Davide III to enter into and sign, on behalf of the provincial government, the contracts of 13 consultants for the Office of the Vice Governor. The contracts cover six months starting January 1, 2015 up to June 30, 2015.
The consultants are Magnificus Cresenciano Cañete for legislative matters, Dara Acusar (legal matters), Patricia Aurora Roa (tourism promotions), Jesus Doque IV (inter-local government review), Ruben Almendras (trade and investment promotions), and Maria Dolores Carfopora de la Cerna (women and children).
The other consultants are Jason Monteclar on the Developmental Communication and special projects, Evangeline De Paula (executive and administrative management and development), Ma. Victoria Calderon (livelihood administration), Leonilo Canson (barangay affairs), Jose Pierre Llanto (social services), Manuel Climaco III (political affairs), and former SP secretary Anecita Pasaylo (local legislation and legal research).
The board is also set to tackle a proposed ordinance that institutes mechanisms for the Provincial Adolescent Health and Youth Development Program authored by Board Member Miguel Antonio Magpale and the proposed ordinance amending some provisions of the province’s 2014 Investment and Incentives Code, creating the Cebu Province Investment and Incentives Board and its center.
This morning, officials and residents of Bogo will get a chance to speak with and discuss local concerns Governor Hilario Davide III, the Board, and Capitol department heads through a consultative assembly. (FREEMAN)
