CEBU, Philippines - A 22-year-old woman was stabbed by her live-in partner after she allegedly tried to leave him on the eve of Valentine’s Day in Bogo City.
Terryfiel Balazuela, 22, reportedly had an argument with her live-in partner, Jhuloserge Consol, 26, that led to the stabbing incident.
Police Officer 1 Melona Lumuntad, of the Bogo City Police Station Women’s Desk, said the victim decide to leave the suspect after their heated argument Friday afternoon, prompting Consol to grab a kitchen knife and stabbed Balazuela in the stomach.
The victim was rushed to the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Bogo City. She was later advised for transfer to a hospital in Cebu City.
Consol tried to escape but was arrested by the responding policemen during a hot pursuit operation. The police recovered a knife believed to have been used by the suspect.
Consol is currently detained at Bogo City Police Station pending the filing of the criminal complaint.
Lumuntad said the suspect will likely face a case for violation of Republic Act 9262, otherwise known as Violence Against Women and Children.— FPL (FREEMAN)
