Man charged with three counts of murder
CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office has indicted a man for killing three of his friends in Barangay Buot, Cebu City over a week ago.
The prosecutor’s office also recommended no bail for Renato Cabradilla’s temporary liberty.
Assistant city prosecutor Gandhi Truya found probable cause to hold Cabradilla for trial for three counts of murder. The accused waived his right to avail of a preliminary investigation and opted to answer the charges directly in court.
Cabradilla allegedly killed Gerardo Tangayan, 46; and brothers Jeffrey Cabucayan, 23, and Jerome Cabucayan, 19. Based on the investigation, the accused was walking with his friends Jeffrey and Jerome when he suddenly pulled out his handgun and started shooting at them. Jeffrey was hit at the back while Jerome was hit at the head.
Tangayan was watching television with his son, Rejel, when the suspect knocked at their door. Tangayan opened the door and tried to block the suspect from entering the house but he was shot in the chest. Rejel was able to run for safety but the accused tried to chase him.
Cabradilla admitted before the media that he committed the crime. He blamed the victims for the mysterious illness that has afflicted him.
According to the accused, a “quack doctor” told him that he may have been a victim of sorcery. — (FREEMAN)
