CEBU, Philippines - A couple was arrested for allegedly selling illegal drugs during a buy-bust operation in Sitio Univille, Barangay Banilad, Cebu City Friday.
Neil Dela Rita, 35, and his live-in partner, Jona Yap, 32, were placed under arrest after selling a pack of shabu to a police decoy and for yielding about P100,000 worth of the illegal drugs.
The buy-bust operation was conducted by operatives of the City Intelligence Branch of the Cebu City Police Office around 5 p.m. last Friday.
Aside from the marked money, the police recovered at least 15 sachets of suspected shabu from Dela Rita. Two medium-sized packs of the same substance were recovered from Yap.
The illegal drugs seized from the suspects were pegged at P100, 000.
CIB chief, Superintendent Romeo Santander, who led the operation, said Dela Rita and Yap are considered as level three drug pushers who can dispose of up to 200 grams of shabu a week.
Most of the couple’s customers are students, added Santander.
According to Santander, Yap used to work at a bar in Barangay Banilad which has been previously raided by authorities before she shifted to illegal drug trade.
Both suspects refused to comment on their arrest.
They are currently detained and will face charges for illegal drug sale and possession. (FREEMAN)
