Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A 6-year-old boy died after he accidentally entangled himself by the neck with a rope used to tie a hammock in Barangay Perelos, Carcar City Tuesday afternoon.

Enerdeve Rural, a kindergarten pupil, was found dead hanging from a mango tree where the hammock he was playing with was tied.

Police Officer 1 Francisco Saberon, homicide investigator, said they received a call from the provincial hospital about a dead child.

Saberon said the child was rushed to the hospital by his stepmother. However, the doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

A certain “Nining” Bacus found the boy while securing her goat to a tree nearby.

“Diha na siya sa duyan naa ilawom sa manga nakit-an nalambod na sa pisi,”Saberon said.

Bacus immediately called for help but it was already too late to save the boy.

Saberon said that the family is convinced that what had happened to the child was just a freak accident.

The police already ruled out the possibility of a foul play.— (FREEMAN)
