CEBU, Philippines - Capitol officials and employees will get higher Christmas bonus this year compared to last year.
Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III yesterday announced that each Capitol employees and officials will receive one month salary or P22,000 minimum and P25,000 maximum, whichever is higher.
The amount is higher compared to the P20,000 plus 25 kilos of rice granted last year. The Capitol currently has 1,547 regular and casual employees who are entitled to receive the bonus.
Provincial budget officer Danilo Rodas said the increase in the amount was due to the savings of the Capitol and its income from the operations of its facilities like hospitals and Cebu South Bus Terminal.
The income from the operation of hospitals alone has increased by more than P50 million this year. Rodas said the bonus is expected to be released not later than Friday.
The Provincial Board has approved yesterday Supplemental Budget No.3 that covers the Christmas bonus amounting to P38.5 million.
This is the second bonus that Capitol employees will receive this year. In August, Capitol employees also received P15,000 each as Collective Negotiation Agreement and P3,000 anniversary bonus. (FREEMAN)
