Power supply restored quickly in Metro Cebu

CEBU, Philippines - Power outages were experienced in Metro Cebu starting Saturday evening even if it was not directly hit by typhoon Ruby.

Among the areas where power service was interrupted include the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, and Naga, and the towns of Consolacion, Liloan, and Minglanilla.

As of 3:15 p.m. yesterday, however, power supply was already restored in F. Clavano Street, Barangay Capitol Site. At 3:22 p.m. power was also restored in Barangay Gudalupe and Martires Extension in Mabolo.

 As of 6:37p.m. power supply in Barangays Cabancalan, Maguikay, and Casuntingan in Mandaue City has been restored. The Visayas Electric Company also reported that there was already power in Barangays Cabungahan, Jaguimit, and Balirong in the City of Naga and Barangays Tunghaan and Pakigne in Minglanilla as of 4:46 p.m.

Power supply in Barangays Tungkil and Pooc in Minglanilla and Poblacion, Liloan was also back at 3:22 p.m.

Barangays Opao and Umapad in Mandaue City experienced brownout yesterday afternoon but was immediately restored at 3:40 p.m.

A power outage was reported in Barangay Polog, Consolacion which has yet to be restored as of 5:28 p.m.

Veco said the immediate restoration of power supply was made possible because of the standby maintenance crew and customer service personnel as part of the company’s preparation for typhoon Ruby. (FREEMAN)
