CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama highlighted his “Land for the Landless Program” during the opening of the photo exhibit of the Division for the Welfare of the Urban Poor.
The exhibit entitled DWUP in action was inaugurated yesterday morning at the City Hall Legislative Building. It is one of the activities lined up for the solidarity week.
The city government has created the Task Force Land for the Landless to help solve tenurial problems and provide lands to qualified families.
Lawyer Collin Rusell, DWUP chief, said they are continuing to provide lands to qualified families who have stayed in government lots for so long without registration.
“Since the implementation, we have given 200 plus lands to families,” he said.
The mayor also reported the success of the city’s re-blocking efforts in areas previously affected by fire. He said the areas include Barangays Kamputhaw, Lorega, and Luz.
He vowed to continue his projects like the boardwalks near the coastal areas, temporary shelters, and better landscapes of the residential areas of the city.
Rama also promised to pursue a comprehensive drainage plan to solve the floodings in the city. (FREEMAN)
