CEBU, Philippines - A suspected burglar was arrested Friday morning after breaking into a sari-sari store in Barangay Sta Cruz, Cebu City.
Jeffrey Minguito, 22, of Sitio Putat, Barangay Tinago, was arrested by the barangay tanods who responded to a call for help from the store owner.
Manuel Ocampo, 40, of Junquera Extension, Barangay Sta. Cruz, caught the suspect in the act of breaking into his sari-sari store. The suspect took a mobile phone from the store which was recovered by the tanods in his possession.
The suspect was immediately turned over to the Fuente Police Station and will be charged with robbery on Monday.
Meanwhile two women, including a retired police official, also lost valuable items to unidentified burglars in PC Hills, Barangay Apas, Cebu City.
The victims were identified as retired Police Inspector Gloria Vargas, 63, and Portia Salazar, 60. The victims estimated the stolen valuables to be worth at least P50,000.
Initial investigation conducted by Theft and Robbery Section and Crime Scene Investigation personnel revealed that the burglars scaled onto the terrace of the house of the victims to gain entrance by removing the jalousie blades.
A wristwatch, reading glasses, Ipod Nanao, Mobile phone, a set of earrings, and wallet containing P3,000 cash were among the items stolen. (FREEMAN)
