CEBU, Philippines - Over P200,000 cash were taken away from three money collectors who were robbed by motorcycle-riding men in Badian town and Naga City on Tuesday.
Rodel Cabasag, 25, collector of Reynolds Loading Center, claimed to have been robbed of P180,000 by two armed men who rode on a motorcycle along Barangay Ginablan, Badian at past 1 p.m.
Cabasag, a native of Sapang Dalaga, Misamis Occidental, alleged that he was on his way to the town proper from a mountain barangay where he just collected money when the robbers, who were covering their faces with cloth, blocked his way.
The backrider allegedly pointed a gun at him and took his bag containing P180,000 cash including his own P5,000 cash in his pocket.
Inspector Henry Orbiso, chief of Badian Police Station, said they responded immediately to the area after receiving the report from the victim but failed to locate the robbers.
Orbiso said they are quite skeptical of the victim’s statements because he failed to even describe the motorcycle used by the robbers.
Investigators interviewed some of the motorcycle-for-hire drivers in the area but nobody from them allegedly noticed anyone having the same description with the alleged robbers.
“Inisyal namo nga pagsubay, negative man gyud. Bisan ang motor lang nga gisakyan unta sa mga tulisan og unsa ‘to nga motor, wala gyud daw niya nailhan nga gikuha pa man kaha ang kwarta sa iyang bulsa,” said Orbiso.
The police chief added that there were no witnesses who could testify what really happened as the alleged robbery happened in a mountainous barangay.
Meanwhile, in Barangay Pangdan, Naga City, two armed men reportedly robbed Marven Raneses, 30, and Supronio Edulan, 22, both of Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City and collectors of Lebcan Financing Company Inc., a lending firm.
The victims told the police that two men who were riding in tandem on a motorcycle blocked their way and declared a holdup.
The robbers carted away the victims’ P22,000 collection money and one of the victims’ P300 personal money.
Naga City police are conducting an investigation into the incident. — (FREEMAN)
