CEBU, Philippines - The observance of the All Souls’ Day in Cebu City yesterday was very peaceful, the Cebu City Police Office reported.

Superintendent Alet Virtucio, deputy city director for administration of CCPO, said that not a single incident was reported in the 27 identified cemeteries in the city that could have marred the solemn celebration.

He said he made his own rounds at the major cemeteries, ports and terminals in the city and did not observe any untoward incidents.

Virtucio said most of the people flocked the ce-meteries on Saturday night and yesterday morning.

Aside from the normal security preparations that the CCPO prepared, the Police Regional Office-7 also augmented 70 additional policemen who were also deployed to the different cemeteries and areas in the city where people converge, said Virtucio.

CCPO also assigned at least 22 police officers in five strategic areas in the city tasked to prevent unscrupulous individuals from perpetrating robbery, burglary, and other crimes.

Several bladed weapons were still confiscated from some of the cemetery goers but these were, ne-vertheless, returned to them upon leaving.

CCPO remains on a full alert status until today as declared by PRO-7. — Bryner L. Diaz/NSA (FREEMAN)
