Grace Melanie L. Lacamiento - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – Despite the police alert across the region, four men robbed a gasoline station along N. Bacalso Avenue, Barangay San Nicolas Proper, Cebu City yesterday dawn.

The robbers who were onboard two motorcycles took away P4,800 from Vhenz Petron Gasoline Station at around 1:30 a.m.

Personnel of San Nicolas Police Station led by Police Officer 3 Joseph Victorioso, in coordination with elements of Mobile Patrol Group and Theft and Robbery Section of the Cebu City Police Office, responded to the area.

Police investigation showed that the four men pretended to be customers before pulling off the heist.

Two of them who were on board a blue Honda Wave motorcycle pointed a gun at cashier Mary Ann Cabales, 25, and declared a robbery.

The two other robbers who were riding a black and white XRM motorcycle and armed with a handgun announced a holdup to security guard Antonio Caray.

Caray’s issued firearm, a cal. 38 revolver, was also taken by the perpetrators.

The robbers then boarded back their motorcycles and immediately fled.

Cebu City Police Office director Senior Superintendent Noli Romana assured that they will capture the robbers.

“Bagamat hindi natin na-prevent ito, we believe na these persons ay mahuhuli rin natin the soonest possible time,” said Romana.

The Police Regional Office – 7 is on a full alert status until November 3 in observance of the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.  (FREEMAN)
