CEBU, Philippines - An international diving site has featured Moalboal town, south of Cebu, in its Facebook site describing it as “one of the best macro diving destinations.”
Scuba Diver Life, an international group based in California, USA, featured Moalboal’s “majestic sight of massive schools of sardines”. The site posted a photo of a diver who was trying to get near the great school of sardines.
As of 5 p.m. yesterday, the post has generated more than 2,000 likes and over 200 shares from the site’s over 1 million followers.
The site also gives a link to divebooker.com where Moalboal’s dive sites (Pescador Island, White Beach, Kasai Wall, Tongo Sanctuary, Tuble Reef, Sunken Island and others) are also featured.
The town’s schools of sardines have attracted divers from all over the world in the past few years. This dive attraction is just a stone’s throw away from Panagsama Beach, where divers will have a shore entry and from the water’s surface, the sardines, which form a massive vortex or sometimes a great wall, can already be visible.
Moalboal, a two-hour drive from Cebu City, is also known for its white sandy beaches, sea turtles, white tip sharks and massive corals. — Liv Campo/ATO (FREEMAN)
